Summary
The rate of thermal dissociation of molecular chlorine into atoms is examined with a view to establishing the conditions under which the dissociation is second order. The available data, both calculated and experimental taken together, indicates that the reaction will be second order over the range of normal reaction temperatures for pressures up to ten atmospheres.
